January 1, 2007, Chicago IL – Steph DeWaegeneer, a Chicago-based Sales Director and Improviser has been crowned 2007 Ms. Illinois Plus America. Steph will compete for the national “Ms. division” title at the 2007 Miss Plus America National Pageant July 4-7, 2007 in Dallas, Texas.

Steph has been an enthusiastic force in the representing the Miss Plus America pageant this year. "Becoming 2007 Ms. Illinois Plus America was a extraordinary honor. The moment was a confirmation pf my decision to go out and live life. I don’t ever want a girl waiting to achieve her dreams, for any reason." said Steph.
Besides being the Director of Creative Sales for ComedySportz and serving of the Executive Board of the American Business Women’s Association Chicagoland Express Network, Steph is also a noted speaker, team building facilitator, professional actress, voice-over talent, and doting Aunt.

The Miss Plus America Pageant system is unlike any other pageant concept. It celebrates the inner beauty of each contestant, as well as recognizing their commitment to their communities. The Ms. Division title is for woman from ages 30 and up. The Miss Plus America Pageant System is an organization devoted to celebrating the essence of the full-figured woman.

In connection with her work as 2007 Ms. Illinois Plus America, Steph has selected Prostate Cancer Awareness and Gilda’s Club as her charitable platforms. She believes women can be a driving force to support the men in their lives to get annual prostate testing for early detection. Founded in memory of comedian Gilda Radner, Gilda’s Club is a free support community for anyone touched by cancer.

Ms. DeWaegeneer is a graduate of Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX with a BFA in Theatre. She is also a graduate of The Second City Conservatory in Chicago, IL. She is an improviser, enjoys modeling, and is working toward her CSP (Certified Speaking Professional) designation.
